Accreditation is a mechanism that ensures that Health facilities and the services they provide are based on a nationally agreed set of standards.CDHS is accredited under two nationally based programs, The Australian Council of Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and the Aged Care Standards Association.
The ACHS program is used for our ESD (Emergency Stabilisation Department) and covers all aspects of the organisation, how well and safely it delivers patient care, its organisational structure and if it has a culture of improving its performance.
The Aged Care Standards Agency program is used for Lovely Banks Nursing Home and Heytesbury Lodge Hostel. They accredit aged care providers on the basis of compliance with the forty four (44) required standards that providers must meet. These standards are related to management systems, staffing and organisation development, health and personal care, resident lifestyles, physical environment and safety systems.
The Quality Reporting Process, conducted by the Department of Health and Ageing, involves a quality review of all providers of CACPs, EACH, and EACHD packages. Approved providers of community care packages are accountable for providing quality community care and complying with the applicable community care standards.
