CDHS BUILDS MEN'S SHED
9th January 2008
Cobden District Health Services (CDHS) hopes a local Men's Shed program will form a guard against depression. CDHS will run the program after it received a $58,000 grant from the R.E. Ross Trust. CDHS' Regional Health Services Co-ordinator, Tracey Mitchell, said the Men's Shed program was aimed at older and unemployed men in the local district. She said it encouraged participants to discuss health issues in a social environment.A range of activities would be planned that will be both interesting and beneficial to participants” Mrs Mitchell said. “Activities would include woodworking and woodcraft, cards, board games, cooking (including diet advice and supermarket visits), gardening, exercise programs and computer classes.” Hopefully it will allow men to come together and guard against depression. Mrs. Mitchell anticipates the program will commence in late February. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact our Administration staff. Back to Home
